Frequently Asked Questions
When will a new version of the UTA on the Go application be released?
The UTA on the Go application is no longer being actively be developed. This free application will continue to be available for download, but on an as-is only basis; UTA does not offer support for errors or compatibility issues that may result during or after installation. Route data files will also continue to be offered for the application until further notice. Another way to look up schedules on handheld devices is the new UTA 2 Go, a web-based application which is compatible with any Internet-enabled device.
Why doesn't the UTA on the Go application work on my newer Pocket PC device?
The UTA on the Go application for Pocket PC uses the Microsoft eVB Runtime libraries which on older systems was included with the device. On newer Pocket PC devices, these libraries are no longer included since they have moved to the newer .NET framework. Once additional budget can be allocated, UTA will look at upgrading the Pocket PC application to no longer require these separate downloads. Please review the System Requirements page for additional information about Microsoft eVB. Users with newer devices which are Internet-enabled may want to try UTA 2 Go, a web-based schedule lookup compatible with any handheld device regardless of operating system.
Why can't I get the file to download?
There have been some reported issues where the download doesn't work as expected or won't open or save in some browsers or browser versions. We have tested the download procedure in the latest versions of Opera, Firefox, Netscape and Internet Explorer and all have worked with one exception. Opera changes the Pocket PC routes file to a .exe extension. The simple fix is to rename it back to .cdb after downloading. We do recommend that you make sure you have the latest version of your browser. If for some reason it doesn't appear to download or work with your browser you can try a different browser to see if that resolves your issue. If that doesn't work and you're still unable to get the file to download, please use the "Provide Feedback" link to let us know your browser and version so we can look into the issue.
When will maps be available?
We are in the process of trying various approaches to meet our objectives for cross-platform use, file size, image quality, readability and usability. We will make maps available as soon as we find an acceptable combination.
Why isn’t my older Palm supported?
The choice for developing for particular operating systems was based on what was currently being sold in stores and the features within the various operating systems when the application was developed. This doesn’t necessarily mean that UTA On the Go will not work on your older Palm. It simply means that we have not gone through testing nor will we address problems found on the older devices.
Why doesn’t the Pocket PC version have a nicer icon?
The Pocket PC version was built as a Visual Basic run-time not an actual application. This was done to speed up the development and delivery of this first version. We may change this with a future version.
