Public Education
A large part of the job of transit officers is helping educate the public about UTA rules and regulations.
- Fare evaders may be allowed to purchase a ticket and then ride.
- We are often the face of UTA and want to be helpful and friendly, not punitive.
Public Safety Class
First time offenders may attend the Public Safety Class and pay a $25.00 fee.
The object is to have the violator interact with a transit officer on a personal level while in class.
This gives UTA a face; so the next time the violator thinks about failing to pay their fare, they will see UTA as human beings, not merely as a large, faceless transit company.
